Presented by a certified professional etiquette trainer, this event is a fun, non-threatening way to learn business etiquette skills while enjoying a three course meal! Some topics covered include: How to confidently enter a room full of strangers; How to introduce yourself and properly shake hands; How to make small talk while networking; How to use utensils and dishes appropriately. Tickets are $15 and pre-paid reservations are required to hold your space.

With Fall recruiting starting up, we know practice interviews can be quite useful to prepare for first or second round interviews. The Career Center is providing a consultant to run mock interviews and you can schedule to meet one-on-one with them. You can expect to practice traditional and behavioral questions, and potentially industry-specific questions, depending on your career goals. To make the most of your session, review the online resources. Also, please prepare your answers to the most common questions: Tell me about yourself/Walk me through your resume, Why do you want this job, and Why our company. You may schedule only ONE appointment with this consultant per semester. For additional support, please sign up for a 30-mins career counseling appointment.
How to Schedule a Mock Interview
- Use the Google calendar link here to search for an open time. We anticipate offering this service through mid-October.
- Be sure to complete the information asked in the description, and email your resume to the interviewer at: email@example.com after you book your time, in order to confirm your appointment.
- Please arrive at the Career Center, 2440 Bancroft Way, 3rd floor, 10 minutes prior to your scheduled time.
- If you need to cancel, please do so at least 48hrs in advance, so that other candidates can utilize the service.
The Alex Pines Lab at Cal invites undergraduate researchers to contribute to a novel and cutting-edge research opportunity. The research program being pursued has the potential to constitute a significant technological breakthrough and would revolutionize modern MRI. The project involves construction of a fast motorized actuator system into a superconducting magnet, including mechanical construction, interfacing and software.

The Berkeley Lab Heat Island Group (http://HeatIsland.LBL.gov) works to cool buildings, cities, and the planet by making roofs, pavements, and cars cooler in the sun.
We have an immediate opening for a sophomore or junior undergraduate research assistant to help assess and develop energy-saving Cool Wall technologies. Please visit http://goo.gl/LY2fRU to learn more about this project.
You will make routine laboratory measurements of the radiative properties of wall product specimens as they are retrieved from field exposure. You will be trained by and work closely with one of our group’s research associates. Your initial responsibilities will include the following:
Measuring spectral reflectance with a spectrophotometer
Measuring solar reflectance with a reflectometer
Measuring thermal emittance with an emissometer
Upkeep of our lab spaces
Familiarity with radiative measurement instruments is not required—training will be provided.
Our ideal candidate is detail-oriented and is able to perform repetitive laboratory work meticulously. We also ask that you:
Sophomore or junior undergraduate student
Have some previous laboratory experience
Have a willingness to learn
Be able to work independently
Have strong communication skills (oral and written)
We expect that you will be able to work about 10 hours per week.

I’m writing to all of you because I would like to get the word out to all engineering students about job opportunities at DPR Construction. DPR focuses recruiting efforts in the CEE department, but we believe there are students in other engineering majors who may have a hidden passion for construction that they just haven’t discovered yet. Representatives from DPR will be on site next Tuesday, September 20 for an infosession as well as next Wednesday, September 21 for on campus interviews.
