MAK MENTORS NEEDED!

Interested in making an impact by teaching STEM and design skills to youth? Become a Māk mentor today!

 

Māk is a social enterprise that trains high school students from under-resourced schools in 3D printing and design. We are partnering with Oakland Technical High School to teach their entire Advanced Arts class our curriculum.

 

Experience in Autodesk Fusion 360 and/or Solidworks is required, and previous mentorship/teaching experience is preferred.

POSITION AT NODEXUS

Nodexus, a Berkeley-based startup, is looking to hire part-time and full-time hardware interns/associates for the Fall/Spring semesters + beyond.

 

Nodexus is an Angel-, Venture-, and SBIR-funded biotech startup that is developing next-generation instrumentation to provide clinical and industrial researchers with access to incredibly precious biological samples. Nodexus' patented platform technology allows for rapid and robust cell screening and isolation.

 

We are looking for an intern who is interested in microfluidics cartridge process development, fabrication, and product design while taking part in the exciting early stages of a startup. Mechanical Engineers, Bioengineers, and Chemical Engineers are encouraged to apply for the available opportunity. Experience with previous internships and labs, especially focused on hardware development (CNC, machine shop experience is a plus) and/or microfluidics experience is welcome but not required. THE SLC IS STILL ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR NEW SCIENCE TUTORS THIS FALL

The Student Learning Center (SLC) is currently accepting applications from students who are interested in becoming science tutors this fall.

We have openings for tutors on a credit or auditing (no units) basis in the following courses:

We may have paid tutor openings for new Physics, General Chemistry and Organic Chemistry tutors.

 

We may have paid openings for study group leaders for Chem 1A, 3A, 3B, 4A;  Biology 1A; MCB 102, Physics 8A, 8B, 7A.

Applications are considered on a rolling basis, but the main deadline for submitting applications is Sunday, August 28th. Applications may be considered after this date if there are still openings.

HIRING: BRIDGING BERKELEY MATH MENTORS

Work with middle schoolers who are behind in math to help them understand the concepts behind the numbers. You'll work with the same few students for the entire semester and will meet once a week with other mentors to compare strategies and support each other. The middle schoolers are all transitioning to Common Core math which relies on math models & flexible thinking instead of scripted problem-solving, and most will be the first in their families to attend college.If you are a creative thinker and ready to ask a lot of questions (versus give one answer) then....

BERKELEY MATH CIRCLE – 2 WORK-STUDY ASSISTANT POSITIONS FOR 2016-2017

The Berkeley Math Circle (BMC) is a weekly program for over 500 San Francisco Bay Area elementary, middle and high school students. The weekly sessions are held on Tuesdays evenings at the UC Berkeley campus. The program started in 1998. The program is now jointly sponsored by the: 

  • UC Berkeley Mathematics Department
  • UC Berkeley Statistics Department
  • UC Berkeley Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) Department
  • Mathematical Science and Research Institute (MSRI)
  • Simons Institute for Theory of Computing

  • Parents' Contribution

Emulating famous Eastern European models, the program aims at drawing kids to mathematics, preparing them for mathematical contests, introducing them to the wonders of beautiful mathematical theories, and encouraging them to undertake future careers linked with mathematics, whether as mathematicians, mathematics educators, economists, or business entrepreneurs.

You can learn everything there is to know about research opportunities and prestigious scholarship opportunities at UC Berkeley on Thursday, September 15, 12-4pm, HMMB. The Undergraduate Research and Scholarships Fair is free and, in addition to representatives from many dozens of research and scholarship programs, there will be break out sessions on themes such as "getting started in undergraduate research", URAP, "students of color in research", "linking research with community based social justice work", and more.

2016 UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN MACRO SYMPOSIUM

The Macromolecular Science and Engineering Program at the University of Michigan is pleased to announce its 40th Annual Symposium, Macromolecules and Innovation – From Discovery to Product.  This year the event will be hosted on October 26th and 27th

Registration is now open and student poster submissions are being accepted.  Travel grants are once again available for undergraduate students.

October 26th will feature a half-day series of Innovation! sessions featuring sessions on public speaking, intellectual property, job searches, and a networking dinner with leaders from industry!  On October 27th there will be a full-day research symposium with invited research talks, poster sessions, and an evening banquet. 

 

Participants are able to register for both or just one of the days of the symposium. The poster session is open to all students and post-doctoral researchers and covers research in all areas of polymer science and engineering.  There is no registration fee for any faculty or students with university affiliation.  Two poster submissions will be elevated to invited talks, providing a fantastic opportunity to showcase your research to leaders in the field.
