Turbulent Air Jet

Berkeley Fluid Mechanics Laboratory
Department of Mechanical Engineering
University of California at Berkeley

The turbulent air jet apparatus consists of a 15 cm long honeycomb section, seven screens, a settling chamber, and a 34:1 contraction ratio to a 25.4 mm diameter nozzle. The flow is driven by an axial blower driven by a servo amplifier. The flow is aerodynamically clean. Velocity profiles are measured using a hot-film/hot-wire anemometer.
