Even in cases where model sizes stay constant, analysts are demanding faster turnaround times. For implicit finite element analysis, the turnaround time is largely determined by linear system solvers and/or eigensolvers. Furthermore, the solvers' relative contribution to the analysis time increases with increasing problem sizes. Recent developments in linear system solver and eigensolver technology have found their way in to industrial finite element software. These solvers utilize new algorithms and take advantage of parallel processing. Commercial finite element software vendors are invited to present the latest developments in solver technology and their impact on industrial applications.
