As computing technology continues to advance and modeling requirements become more precise, automatic mesh generation techniques must rise to fulfill ever-increasing and diverse expectations. This symposium is a forum for exploring and synthesizing many of technologies needed to develop a computational grid suitable for simulation. In addition to mesh generation technologies, the symposium will provide a broader forum for discussion of technologies relevant to the design through analysis process. Topics of interest include: o Surface and volume meshing algorithms o Mesh improvement criteria and algorithms o Mesh adaptation algorithms o Anisotropic mesh generation and adaptation o Dealing with geometry issues including, dirty geometry, integration with CAD and high order elements o Mesh evolution in evolving geometry problems o Automatic geometric simplification techniques o Interesting applications of automated and adaptive analysis o Novel new domain discretization schemes o Parallel implementations and control of very large meshes o The Design-through-Analysis Process including data translation, automation, best practices, data standards, and design for analysis issues.
