Box 808, L-125 Livermore, CA 94551-0808 ------------------------- Minisymposium description: ------------------------- The need for robust, accurate, and inexpensive algorithms to resolve contact and interface phenomena continues to drive finite element research. The desire for these algorithms exists across multiple disciplines (solid, thermal, fluid, electromagnetic), and temporal/spatial scales. This minisymposium focuses on algorithmic developments aimed at solving practical problems arising from industry and government, and the knowledge gained from the practical application of these algorithms. Some examples of phenomena of interest include the resolution of advanced friction laws, self- and auto-contact, coupling with thermal and/or electromagnetic contact conduction, and contact at multiple scales.
