Karpov MABE Department, University of Tennessee, USA ekarpov@utk.edu edkarpov@gmail.com ------------------------- Minisymposium description: ------------------------- For relevant analyses of many important mechanical and physical phenomena occuring in complex engineering systems or biological ones, etc., one needs to refine numerically a global coarse scheme and/or to go into fine scales of materials, structures and interfaces (grains, asperities, atoms, etc.). Since these complex problems can not be yet handeled at their most elementary levels, there is a need for mechanical multi-modelling frameworks and associated numerical methodologies. This minisymposium aims at grouping (some of the) researchers and engineers in the field of computational mechanics, working at least on one of the theoretical, experimental or numerical aspects involved by the minisymposium theme. Contributions to the treatment of transmissions and transferts between models/scales in the static and dynamic regimes and in the nonlinear frameworks are particularly encouraged.
