Christopher Stipe is a fourth year graduate student at the University
of California, Berkeley, where he studies laser based nanoparticle measurement
and production techniques and laser diagnostics for combustion systems.
Christopher received his BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from Montana
State University, Bozeman in 1998. As an undergraduate, he studied in
the United Kingdom during the 1996-1997 academic year at Lancaster University.
Upon graduation, he conducted research for one year at the National Renewable
Energy Laboratory (NREL) in Golden, Colorado. His research included life
cycle fatigue testing of wind-turbine blades, static strength tests of
wind-turbine components, and material testing. In 2001, he obtained his
MS degree in Mechanical Engineering from UC Berkeley and will obtain his
PhD in May of 2003.
After graduating, he plans to pursue a career as a professor with the
hope that he can positively affect the lives of his students as his past
professors did for him. Christopher enjoys spending time with his wife,
rockclimbing, mountaineering, hiking, and playing classical guitar.
