Re: 7th International Conference on Deburring and Surface Finishing
Dear Friends:
I am pleased to announce the 7th International Conference on Deburring and Surface Finishing to be held in Berkeley, June 7-9, 2004. The first international conference on precision surface & edge finishing technology was held in 1990 in Nagoya, Japan. The international conference has subsequently been held in China, Korea, Germany, USA and Russia. We are excited to host the conference in the San Francisco Bay area. The meeting will be held on the beautiful University of California Berkeley engineering campus. This conference reflects the growing interest of researchers and industrial practitioners in surface & edge finishing technology.
The conference serves as a venue for presentation and discussion on a range of topics dealing with burr formation, burr minimization, deburring technologies, edge finishing technologies, inspection, quality issues in precision manufacturing, process planning for surface and edge quality control, standards for edge finishing and surface quality, machine tool design and enhancement for edge quality control, tool design, materials issues, process modeling and simulation for burr formation and edge quality, etc. In addition to academic research and results of studies, the organizers are specially interested in practical examples of burr minimization or removal in industry. Previous conferences of this type have served as a forum for discussion and problem solving from a wide range of industry participants from automotive, aerospace, medical device, component and specialty tooling industries. We expect to have several keynote addresses by leading researchers and industry experts in the field.
All the details for program, registration, paper submission, technical tours, technical exhibits, burr formation short course following the conference, housing and travel are available on the website, www.me.berkeley.edu/burrconference. We are planning an enjoyable and technically stimulating program and hope you and your colleagues can attend and participate. Please feel free to contact me directly if there are any questions or for information not given on the website. I look forward to personally welcoming you to Berkeley next June!
Sincerely,
David Dornfeld Professor of Mechanical Engineering and Conference Organizer |
