Masayoshi Tomizuka has been named the 2006 winner of the American Automatic Control Council's John R. Ragazzini Award.

The Ragazzini Award is given to recognize outstanding contributions to automatic control education in any form. These contributions can be from any source and in any media, i.e., electronic, publications, courses, etc.

Tomizuka's citation reads

"For outstanding contributions to control education by blending and balancing a range of theoretical developments with applications, mentoring many future leaders in academia and industry, and demonstrating leadership in many national and international organizations."
