Professor Emeritus Boris Rubinsky has been appointed Professor in the Graduate School, an honor reserved for retiring faculty who are fully engaged in research and who continue to contribute with distinction to the graduate program.
Boris Rubinsky is the Arnold and Barbara Silverman Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Bioengineering at the University of California at Berkeley. He is also Professor and Director Research Center for Bioengineering in the Service of Humanity and Society, Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
Professor Rubinsky joined the Berkeley faculty in 1980. His honors include

• 1996, Fellow AAAS (American Association for the Advancement of Science)

• 2003 -2005, Sackler Fellow in Bioengineering, Tel Aviv University
• 2007, Gold Award - International Society of Cryosurgery Award
• 2007, Irreversible electroporation was chosen as a Technology of the Year by NASA.
