The Graduate Women of Etcheverry (GWE) presented their first annual Faculty Award for Excellence in Graduate Student Mentoring to Professor Oliver O'Reilly at the Mechanical Engineering Department Faculty Meeting on May 5th, 2006.

From the GWE:

Dr. O'Reilly has gone beyond the call of duty in fostering students' professional self-confidence, encouraging career development, and providing constructive feedback to his mentees. His "logical and respectful responses to concerns" make students "more confident and comfortable expressing options and questions." In his teaching and his mentoring, he "demonstrates a concern for each student's wellbeing and need for a consistent work environment."

Dr. O'Reilly is clearly a model mentor, and The Graduate Women of Etcheverry are very pleased to present him with the first annual award.
