Professor Antoni K. Oppenheim has received the 2004 Classic Paper Award of the ASME Heat Transfer Divison for his paper entitled "Radiation Analysis by the Network Method," Trans. ASME, May 1956, pp. 725-735.

The Classic Paper Award recognizes seminal papers published at least 15 years ago that are exceptional in their contribution to the technology and science of heat transfer.

Professor Oppenheim, a member of the National Academy of Engineering, professor in the graduate school and a member of the mechanical engineering faculty, joined the faculty in 1950. An expert in the field of combustion, Professor Oppenheim's current research focuses on dynamics of exothermicity and engine cardiology.

The award will be presented during the Heat Transfer Dinner at the IMECE 2004 meeting on November 14 in Anaheim, California.
