Arun Majumdar named 2003 IIT Distinguished Alumnus

The Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay has named Professor Arun Majumdar a Distinguished Alumnus during 2003.

A letter from Dr. Ashok Misra, Director of the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, reads in part:

"The Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay has been fortunate in having had excellent students throughout the 45 years of its existence. We are very proud that students graduating from our Institute have reached positions of eminence in industry, academia and business.

"It is the practice of the Institute every year to recognize and honour alumni who have gained marked distinction in their field of work with the Distinguished Alumnus Award. I have the pleasure of informing you that the Institute Committee appointed for this purpose has recommended your name among those to be bestowed with the Distinguished Alumni Award during 2003. Your achievements have brought laurels to the Institute and I am sure that by accepting this honour, you will permit your alma mater to endorse the excellent contributions you have made in your field of work."

The award will be presented as part of the Institute Foundation Day in Bombay on March 10.
