Professor Liwei
Lin, professor of Mechanical Engineering at the University of
California, Berkeley, has been elected to the grade of Fellow Grade
the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.
The Fellow grade recognizes significant engineering achievements and
contributions to the engineering profession.
Professor Lin's areas of interest include
MEMS (Microelectromechanical Systems);
NEMS (Nanoelectromechanical Systems);
Nanotechnology; design and manufacturing of microsensors and
microactuators; development of micromachining processes by
silicon surface/bulk micromachining; micro moulding process;
mechanical issues in microelectromechanical systems (MEMS)
including heat transfer, solid/fluid mechanics and dynamics.
He is also co-Director of the
Berkeley Sensor and
Actuator Center.
Professor Lin joined the faculty of Mechanical Engineering at Berkeley
in 1999. He received his PhD from Berkeley in 1993.
