Kiyoshi Itao, the President of the Japan Society of Precision Engineering (JSPE), announced that JSPE has selected Professor David Dornfeld, University of California at Berkeley, as a recipient of the 2005 JSPE Takagi Award for "Research on Planarization CMP and its Application Technologies."

The award is based on research which "greatly contributes to the advancement of precision engineering and the development of precision industry."

Professor Dornfeld is a member of the JSPE Expert Committee on Chemical Mechanical Planarization (CMP). Tokyo, Japan, September 16, 2005.
