Mechanical Engineering graduate student Jongeun Choi was a semifinalist of the 2005 American Control Conference Best Student Paper Award Competition for his paper Topology Preserving Neural Networks that Achieve a Prescribed Feature Map Probability Density Distribution, co-authored with his Ph.D. supervisor, Professor Roberto Horowitz.
There
were 265 Paper Plaza submissions for the Student Best Paper
Competition. Of these, 76
received advisor nominations and were considered for the award.
The nominated papers were reviewed through the usual review
process and by a panel of experts chosen from the Program Committee.
Based on these reviews, five papers were selected as finalists
for the Student Best Paper Award competition. The winner of
the student best paper competition was selected at the conference
and was based on both the written paper and the final oral presentation
by the student.
