We at BMW see innovation and technology as a particular challenge. On July 11th Dr. Burkhard Goeschel Member of the Board of BMW Group Development and Purchasing, will give a brief insight into three innovative subjects BMW is currently working on:
First, Dr. Burkhard Goeschel would like to make you acquainted with ConnectedDrive. The second subject is our by-wire technology. And last but not least he will be taking a look at our new iDrive car control and operating concept entering the market in our new 7 Series. Dr. Burkhard Goeschel has chosen these three subjects in particular. ConnectedDrive stands for an innovative and comprehensive concept networking the car, the driver, and the surrounding world. It opens up the way into a future of intelligent mobility. ConnectedDrive describes the new, comprehensive interplay of the driver, the car and the surrounding world in road traffic. While so far the individual factors involved have remained largely isolated and independent of one another, the driver is now being included in the car management and control cycle as a genuine, connected partner.
By-wire technology, in turn, involves systems allowing controlled intervention of man and machine, of the driver and his car. For BMW it means systems with controlled interaction of the driver and the car, using both electromechanical and electro hydraulic control options. And, as a further point, by-wire systems are indispensable for implementing driver assistance concepts.
The third topic is our new iDrive car control concept. This concept is so unique that particularly young and innovative people will find it really thrilling. It is featured in the new 7 Series. This gives the opportunity to experience the new BMW 7 Series, even though I regret this will only be in pictures!
