The Chevron Corporation has announced that the Chevron-Berkeley Fellowship in Mechanical Engineering for 2006 at the University of California, Berkeley has been awarded to ME graduate student Fabrizio Bisetti. This is the inaugural presentation of the fellowship.

The Fellowship consists of an award of $16,000 for a term of one year, and all graduate students in Mechanical Engineering were eligible to apply. It is anticipated that the Fellowship will be made as a lump-sum payment by check issued to the winning student applicant in February 2006.

The Fellowship is intended to support the graduate research of students who are working in the research areas of energy conversion, internal combustion, power generation, renewable
power, automotive vehicle development or automotive engine design/testing.

A native of Italy, Bisetti entered the PhD program in Mechanical Engineering at the University of California at Berkeley in 2003 after receiving his MS in Engineering from the University of Texas. His research work at Berkeley focuses on turbulent combustion under the guidance of Professor J.-Y. Chen.

Dr. Randy Barber of the Chevron Corporation presented the award to Mr. Bisetti at a luncheon on March 20.
