At the 2007 International Mechanical Engineering Congress and Exposition held in Seattle, WA, November 11-15, 2007, Sara Beaini was awarded the First Place Hewlett Packard Student Best Paper Award. 

The award focuses on topics in heat transfer, fluids engineering, and thermal systems, with specific interest in topics related to nano/micro technology, energy, sustainability, and multiphase heat transfer. The first author on the paper must be a graduate student.  The paper, entitled “Heat Transfer for Annular flow in Microchannel Bends: A Free Energy Minimization Model for Square Channels” was co-authored with Professor Van P. Carey.
