Breadboarding on the Digilent board (large file)
For the lab, begin by reading all of the introductory material. Then:
- Perform the "Manual tests" described in Appendix 1 (the power supply test should already have been performed).
- Build the circuits shown in the lab procesure. Note that not all of
your components are CMOS (HC) parts. Some are TTL (LS) parts. The CMOS parts
will be breadboarded on the 3.3 V breadboard, the TTL parts will be breadboarded
on the 5 V breadboard.
Last, perform the following additional exercises:
- Connect two CMOS parts in series, for example a NOR and a NAND, so that 3 switches are involved in the circuit.
- Connect one CMOS and one TTL part in series, the CMOS part driving the TTL part, the TTL part driving the LED.
- Connect one TTL and one CMOS part in series, the TTL part driving the CMOS part, the CMOS part driving the
LED. Does this work? Hint: it may not.
