Purpose: This knee brace facilities the transition between sitting and standing and vice-versa.

This knee brace utilizes a spring to provide help with sitting and standing.  When the user sits down, the linear spring is stretched.  Once the user is in sitting position, the knee brace locks in place.  When the user bends down further, the locking mechanism in the joint disengages and releases the energy stored in the spring, helping the user to stand.
